September and it's still hot in Arnold
St. Louis had the 8th hottest August last month. Of course I'm not so old that I experienced those hotter months. Two days (back to back) set all-time records; one being 105. That is like sticking your head in an oven. I feel for those where it was more hot yet. It is also VERY dry!
In spite of the heat, our two tomato plants produced a bumper crop. We canned about 8 pints, ate a whole bunch, and are still eating them. I'll miss the little buggers soon. Out of the tomato patch has grown a watermelon from garbage used as fertilizer last year. Lots of vine and only one watermellon. The one we have looks real good. The heat and dry killed most of the blossoms before they could set any fruit (of course I didn't do a very good job of keeping the thing watered).
I am seeing more HHR's driving around here. My wife and I have been considering same as our next vehicle purchase. Right now two of my sons are in a rental HHR motoring around California on vacation. I am very interested in their experience with the car (truck; whatever).
Still have my Tarlov Cysts causing pain, but I have gone off the Gabapentin I took for the pain. It wasn't having any positive effect, and did cause some problems. I charted a weight loss of 9 pounds directly correlated to reduction, then elimination of the dose. It'll be a long time before I go back on that stuff. In reality I believe the additional abdominal fat made my symptoms worse. I can't blame the doctors since they really don't know what to do. I'll stop complaining until I know there is an effective surgery for these guys.
My faith also keeps me up emotionally. I am blessed to belong to a GREAT local church that has one of the best preachers in the country (that I'm sure few folks outside our church have ever heard preach). You can fix that by going to www.fbcarnold.com and checking out the sermon audio. God Bless! The only problem I have at church is that I can't sit. I lay on a pew during the service. I used to go to the "balcony" since there were only a few pews there and I wouldn't disturb anyone. Now the BALCONY is being finished as a BALCONY and I have to find a place to lay in the main sanctuary. Isn't life full of choices. I could stay home (won't deny that I am tempted at times), but I can also go, and choose to do so. I know God honors my faithfulness.
